Decorative paint finishes, sometimes called Faux Finishes, are used to simulate the appearance of materials such as plaster, stone, wood, stucco, and marble. These are applied on top of more common materials such as sheetrock using a combination of stains, paints, and glazes. Brushes, sponges, rags, and trowels may be used to create a variety of textures and hues.
Subtle accents can be achieved by the restrained application of faux finishes on walls or trim.
